The terms.

The short version: use Mailroom to send real postcards to real people. Don't use it to harass, scam, or spam. Be a decent person. The rest of this is the legal version.

Who we are

Mailroom is a postcard-mailing service. When this document says "we," "us," or "Mailroom," it means the entity operating the service. When it says "you," it means you, the person using the service.

Using the service

You agree to use Mailroom only for its intended purpose: sending physical postcards to recipients who would reasonably welcome them. You may not use Mailroom to:

Harass, threaten, defame, or otherwise harm any person.
Send spam, bulk unsolicited mail, or commercial promotions to strangers.
Mail anything illegal, sexually explicit, obscene, or designed to deceive (impersonation, fraud, etc.).
Mail content that infringes someone else's intellectual property rights.
Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the service.
Send messages from a phone number that isn't yours, or impersonate another person via SMS.

We reserve the right to reject any postcard that violates these terms, and to suspend or terminate accounts that do.

SMS / Messaging Service

Mailroom can be used entirely by text. Here are the SMS-specific terms:

Opt-in. By texting our number a photo or message, you opt in to receive transactional SMS messages from Mailroom related to your postcard order (composing, confirming, delivery status).
Opt-out. Reply STOP, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE at any time to opt out. You will receive one confirmation message and then no further texts from us. To restart, reply START.
Help. Reply HELP to receive support contact information.
Frequency. Message frequency is tied to your orders (~5-10 messages per postcard). We do not send marketing SMS.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply, charged by your wireless carrier. Mailroom doesn't bill you for SMS itself.
Supported carriers. Major US carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, US Cellular, etc.). Outbound deliverability depends on carrier policies; we are not responsible for messages dropped or delayed by your carrier.

Your content

You retain all rights to the photos and text you submit. By using Mailroom, you grant us a limited license to print, mail, and (briefly) store your content for the sole purpose of fulfilling your order. We don't use your content for anything else, and we don't train AI models on your photos.

You represent that you have the right to send the photos and text you submit. If you're sending a photo of someone else, you should have a reasonable basis to believe they're okay with it ending up in someone's mailbox.

Payment and credits

Mailroom postcards are sold individually or in packs. Credits never expire. Refunds for unused credits are available within 30 days of purchase, minus any cards already mailed.

The free card offered to new accounts is a promotional gift. It has no cash value and cannot be transferred or refunded.

Delivery

We send your postcard to our printing partner within two business days of your order. Once printed, delivery is handled by the USPS and is typically 3 to 5 business days within the continental United States. We are not responsible for delays, damage, or loss caused by the postal service, but if a card comes back as undeliverable we'll credit you for another send.

Account termination

You can delete your account or opt out anytime. by replying STOP via SMS, through the app, or by emailing us. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Either way, your account data is deleted within 30 days of termination, except where we're required by law to retain it.

Disclaimers

Mailroom is provided as is. We do our best, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service or that every postcard will arrive in perfect condition. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties.

Limitation of liability

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of Mailroom is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we'll email or text you before the changes take effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Delaware.
